Who is David Pitlyuk?
Who is David Pitlyuk? First you need to know how to say my last name. It’s not as hard as it looks, it’s pronounced “Pit-Luck”. But just in case, you can also access this blog by going to DavePit.com.
I started my first real business at the age of 16 (1996), it was a website called SystemLogic.net. My biggest hobby at the time was computers, so I decided to review hardware and put my thoughts online. Throughout the 4 years I went through a lot of changes and learned a lot of things…I wasn’t doing something your average 16 year old was up to. Eventually the site changed its name to SLCentral.com, and by 2002 I was ready to move on to my next endeavor. I sold the site to a man who lived in the UK, although I wish I held onto it longer as I think it would be worth some major change by now. By that time it was generating over 1 million pageviews a month, and had survived the dot com crash.
Now that I was a little older, I really started to get into cars. I picked up a 2003 Nissan Altima 3.5 SE and immediately started to toy with it. It was during this time when I was an active member of a forum called Altimas.net that I had met my soon-to-be business partner for my next venture. After a short period of time we had remotely launched ActiveTuning, a manufacturer of aftermarket parts for Nissan and Infiniti vehicles. What do I mean by remotely? My business partner lives in Wisconsin, and I live halfway across the country in Virginia. We had almost gone a year with the business before ever even speaking on the phone. This is the true power of the internet. Although it is part-time, the company has been successful in my eyes. More importantly, I have learned and developed so much based on my experiences and through the people I’ve met.
In March of 2007 I started an IT solutions business with a good friend from college. Tri Megatech Technology Solutions has had a great first year, and we hope to do even better in 2008.
I have also started a variety of smaller sites, such as my first experiment in affiliate marketing; Carbon Fiber Gear. I’m always on the lookout for new projects, and usually have an idea or two in the back of my head.
Even with all this business stuff, I do have a day job. I work for a large new media company as a project manager here in Northern Virginia. Many people have a bad outlook in terms of working in a corporate environment. I must have gotten lucky because I truly like my job, environment, and the people that I work with.
This blog is about my life adventure. I will not only be posting about my businesses, but also about my life, my interests, the people I care about and more. I hope that some of the things I post on here are helpful, inspirational, and of interest to you.
