Seeing Google Search Results Already

I am technically out of Google’s sandbox as I am seeing backlinks for my domain name in Google. This is great news because it means that Google now “trusts” my site, so I should start seeing more and more traffic from them over time. You can check your own domain by simply going to this URL: http://www.google.com/search?q=www.yourdomain.com. I’ll be doing some analytics on the amount of search engine traffic over time in order to see how it grows, so that should be interesting. In the meantime, people have searched these keywords in Google and got to this blog…keep in mind this blog was just launched 12 days ago:

13 days and your out of the sandbox - impressive. I’ve heard most people complain about being in there for 1 - 3 months. Do you think the fact that you’ve acquired a handful of early back links from high-profile, trusted sites probably helped you out a lot?

Tom: I actually noticed I was out a few days ago, so it was much quicker than 13 days. I think it was a few things, which I’ll touch on in a blog post later on. Mainly in my opinion it was a handful of early back links from trust sites as you mentioned, but also the inclusion of real-time update of a Google Sitemap through the Google Sitemaps plugin which you can find on my top 10 plugins list.

    Stay tuned for more info!

P.S. - I added your site to me feed reader, interesting tips!

    David,
Thanks for the article. I’ve just tried to check my site, which is 1 month old and got back: “The requested URL was not found on this server”. I have a sitemap and Google Webmasters shows everything’s fine. I know I am not getting any outside traffic, only my own networking. What can I do to fix it? I’ve tried Google alert, did not show up anything:( Any suggestions? Thank you. (I don’t know codes).

Hey Iana - When I did a google search for your domain, it seemed to come back with something:

    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&hs=MiJ&q=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.infogift.info&btnG=Search

I wasn’t getting that URL not found on this server error. It may take time before it actually comes up in results or anything though.

David, thank you for the response. Somehow I did not get what you’ve got. (Actually, I’ve changed my robots file to include “Sitemap” line within last few hours).
Does all this mean, that you only get some kind of activity on Google, if you get comments from other people? Somehow I’ve got these 2 in my first 3 days on line, and nothing since…But thank you for listening.

    Iana,

You’ll want to use some sort of web analytics software to track your users and where they came from. For example Google Analytics, you can check something called “referrals”, and it will tell you whether or not you are getting visitors from something like a Google search.

Your site host may actually have some sort of stats built into their control panel, so you may want to look at that as well.
